Claude “Bud” Henry Cooley, 69, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at his home.

He was born July 24, 1947, in Oakside, son of Barney Raymond and Wilma Lea Dyer Cooley. He and Nancy Fisher were married in 1975.

He entered the Navy on Aug. 18, 1964, and was honorably discharged June 8, 1967.

He was a member of the Ozark Mountain Long Rifle Club and owner of Chigger Ridge Farm. He was a former Boy Scout leader.

He was an author with two published books.

He loved storytelling. He also enjoyed trapping, woodworking and teaching children the history of the past.

He was preceded in death by his parent and two brothers, Ralph and Bill.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Nancy; a son, Robert; a grandson; a brother, Herbert Cooley; a sister, Dorothy Wood; and a host of other family members and friends.

Graveside services with military honors were Friday, Nov. 11, in Oakside Cemetery with John Murrell and John Rattery officiating. Services were under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home
