The subject of a homicide manhunt was in trouble with the law at the time of the shooting, records show.
Daniel G. Campbell, 39, was the subject of an arrest warrant Oct. 21 on a charge that he had violated his probation. On Tuesday of last week, a motion was filed to suspend and revoke his probation.
Campbell is known to law enforcement. In 2015, he was charged with first-degree tampering of a vehicle and received a five-year term that was suspended after 120 days by a judge, and Campbell was placed on probation.
In February 2014, he was charged with third-degree assault. After receiving a six-month jail term, Campbell admitted he had violated his probation by not reporting to his probation officer Dec. 16.
