Known professionally as Doug Deforest, Houston native Doug Driesel has signed a recording contract with Voyage Entertainment/Orchard/Sony.

Houston native Doug Driesel recently signed a country music recording contract with Voyage Entertainment/Orchard/Sony.

Now a resident of Cherokee Village, Ark., Driesel, 54, is known professionally as Doug Deforest. Mainly as a bass player, he has in the past performed in live shows with several famous artists, and has contributed to numerous studio recordings. He currently operates his own recoding studio in Cherokee Village.

Deforest expects to release an album sometime in 2017. Songs of his are available for download on his website, www.dougdeforest.com.

Avenues Magazine, a publication about Ozarks life published in Salem, Ark., featured Driesel/Deforest in its October 2016 issue.
