The Houston Rural Fire Department responded Sunday night to an outbuilding behind a house on Highway B east of Houston that was fully engulfed when fireighters arrived.

Members of the Houston Rural Fire Department responded Sunday evening to an outbuilding fully engulfed a short distance from a home.

The call was at 16943 Highway B east of Houston.

The cause was not immediately known. At about 6:05 p.m., Tyrone Fire Department responded to a fire off Jackson Road. An alarmed property owner notified his neighbor that his home was close to endangerment. The Cabool Fire Department also was called for mutual aid.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Monday, Tyrone responded to report a grass and woods fire on Rainbow Drive.

Other fire calls in the county:

• A grass and woods fire brought several departments early last Friday morning to blazes reported on West Ashley Creek Road.

The site of several fires the previous day, blazes were reported beginning at 5:40 a.m. The Missouri Department of Conservation was also dispatched.

• The City of Houston Fire Department was called at about 12:30 p.m. last Thursday to a report of a grass across from the city water tower fire on Forrest Drive.

• At about 12:45 p.m. Thursday, the Houston Rural Fire Department was called to Fisher Drive north of Houston, where a hay bale and brush were on fire near timber.

• Fire departments from two communities were called early Thursday to multiple brush fires on Ashley Creek Road. Raymondville was first called at about 5:20 a.m., while Licking was sought at about 7:15 a.m. and asked to bring its brush truck, blowers and rakes for mutual aide. The Houston Rural FD was called.
