Holly Law of Houston played the French horn with the Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra Oct. 29 at the fourth annual Spooktacular Concert at the historic Star Theater in Willow Springs. Law’s 15-year-old daughter plays percussion with the group. The Star Dramatic Company decorated the theater and the orchestra members were dressed in costume. The orchestra, under the direction of Joe Dias, performed “Highlights from Jurassic Park,” “Selections from Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride,” “Highlights from Harry Potter” and selections from “The Phantom of the Opera.” Jodie Forbes of Houston is the associate conductor and Danyal Sallee of Ava is the concertmaster.

Question: Why can’t your nose not be 12 inches long?

Answer: Because it would be a foot!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

Crab Dip

Ingredients:

1 lb. lump crab meat

1/2 c. sharp cheddar, grated

1/2 c. Pepper Jack, grated

1/4 c. Parmesan, grated

3/4 c. Greek yogurt

1/4 c. scallions, finely sliced

2 cloves garlic, finely minced

3 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce

1 lime, juiced and zested

1 tsp. Tabasco

1a tsp. dry mustard

1/8 tsp. salt, to taste

1/8 tsp. pepper, to taste

Directions:

1. Mix all the ingredients in a casserole dish and smooth so it’s an even layer.

2. Bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. In the final ten minutes of cooking, sprinkle extra cheese over the top, if desired.
