More than 11,000 deer were killed during Missouri’s first of two youth firearms seasons, Oct. 29 and 30.

The Missouri Department of Conservation said hunters ages 6-15 checked 11,171 deer, down from the 2015 total of 13,583. Osage County led the state with 253 killed, while Texas County hunters harvested 180 deer.

The second youth firearms deer season is Nov. 25-27.
