Sales tax revenue decreased during the latest monthly distribution in Houston, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Sales tax collections by Houston merchants dropped about 9.1 percent from the same monthly period a year ago, according to the latest monthly distribution by the Missouri Department of Revenue.

About $44,737 was collected from a one-cent sales tax. That’s a decrease of $4,496 from the same period a year ago. For the first 10 months of the year, about $593,159 has been collected. That’s up about 1.2 percent from 2015.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for street, sidewalk and utility work. Each has contributed about $144,363, which is up about $3,145 each.
