She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; and her sister, June.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Durbin of Bucyrus, Mo.; son, Earl Durbin and wife Sandy of Neosho, Mo.; son, Edward Durbin of Houston, Mo.; and daughter, Cheryl Kidwell and husband, Dave, of Bucyrus, Mo.; her grandchildren, Bethany, David, Jackie, Amelia, Jonathan, Elias and Nile; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In 1952, Nancy bought a bus ticket to Omaha, Neb., to marry Lawrence Durbin, a young man she had met 10 months earlier at the Baptist Student Union in Silver City, N.M. She lived the life of a military wife for the next 21 years, moving across the U.S. and to Japan, all while raising four children and finishing her college degree.

In the early 1970s, Nancy settled with her family at her home in Bucyrus.

Nancy taught school at Houston and Success for several years. She and Lawrence also continued traveling.

Nancy enjoyed gardening, sewing with her daughter, Deborah, and knitting. She was also active in her church and taught Sunday school for many years.

She was a wonderful mom and grandma, famous for her chocolate cake. She loved and was loved by all her children and grandchildren.

We will all miss her very much but are comforted that when she closed her eyes at last, she opened them in heaven.
