A Plato High School senior will join the Drury University baseball program this week.
Wiley Miller is set to sign with the Panthers during a ceremony at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday at the high school.
Miller had a standout junior season in 2016 as he led Plato to a third-place finish in Class 2. He received all-state, all-district and all-conference honors after leading his team in wins, saves, hits, slugging percentage, runs and doubles. He struck out 71 batters in 54 innings.
During the fall season that concluded Oct. 1, Miller had a 1.91 ERA while striking out 76 batters in 47.2 innings. He also batted .595 with four home runs and .659 on-base percentage as Plato went 21-1 and won the Frisco League championship.
Miller, who wants to play baseball and become a trauma surgeon, is among the top students in his class academically with a 3.79 grade point average in his high school career. He will have 33 college credits when he graduates in May 2017.
