On the way to being destroyed, CJ's Place in Summersville burns early Monday morning. The fire is being investigated by a fire marshal.

Four area fire departments responded at about 3:40 a.m. Monday to a fire that completely destroyed CJ’s Place at 252 Second St. in Summersville.

Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Jackson said a total of seven trucks and 13 firefighters from Raymondville, Summersville, Clear Springs and Eminence responded. Jackson said the building was fully engulfed by the time the first truck arrived and that the fire apparently started on the east side of the structure.

An adjacent gas station escaped damage.

“We were able to get a truck on scene and keep the west side cooled to limit exposure to the gas station,” Jackson said.

A fire marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of the blaze. Trucks from Raymondville and Clear Springs finally left the scene at about 7:10 a.m.
