HHS JOURNALISM TEAM WINS CONSTITUTION REVOLUTION

Houston High School won the journalism competition of last week’s Constitution Revolution state finals in Jefferson City. The entire team, which also included students competing as law enforcement and attorneys, finished second — just 1 1/2 points behind Lebanon.

Sophomore Leah Otte received the “outstanding achievement in journalism” award and a $500 scholarship. Her journalism teammates were Madi Franklin, Jolie Morgan and Shelby Vasseur. Vanessa Kirkwood was an alternate.

FFA STUDENTS ATTEND NATIONAL CONVENTION

Fourteen members of the Houston High School FFA chapter attended the national convention Oct. 19-22 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Students heard multiple speakers share stories of personal inspiration and how a little perseverance can go a long way. Students learned new ways to lead and inspire.

BAKE SALE TO BENEFIT CELEBRATION FOR LIFE

A bake sale from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at Walmart in Houston will benefit Celebration for Life, which hosts after-prom and after-graduation activities for Houston High School students.
