Seven members of the Houston High School softball team were named to the all-SCA team.

Stephani Crewse, Tori McCloud and Taylor Chipps led the Lady Tigers’ selections with positions on the first team. Madison Lawson, Kaitlyn Root and Emily Roberts were named to the second team. Carly Crawford received honorable mention.

Crewse, a senior catcher, batted a team-best .474 and led HHS with 27 RBIs. She tied for the team lead with 15 stolen bases and was third with 18 runs scored.

McCloud, a senior center fielder, led Houston with 23 runs scored and tied for the team lead with 15 steals. She ranked second on the team with a .421 batting average and 24 runs batted in.

Chipps, a junior second baseman, had a team-high four homeruns and was second on the team with 20 runs scored. She batted .338 with 15 RBIs.

Root, a junior first baseman and shortstop, hit .335 with 15 runs scored, 14 RBIs and eight steals.

Lawson, a junior outfielder, batted .327 with 16 RBIs, 13 runs scored and eight stolen bases.

Roberts, a sophomore pitcher, got the winning decision on all eight of Houston’s victories in 2016.

Crawford, a junior shortstop and third baseman, scored 16 runs and had 11 RBIs. She also stole six bases.
