Texas County Sheriff James Sigman said authorities are searching for a truck that might have been stolen Monday night by jail escapee and suspected murderer Daniel Campbell.
The 1997 black Dodge extended cab pickup with a red camper shell was stolen around 8:30 p.m. from near the Big Piney Sportsmen’s Club on Highway B. The license plate number is 1UR450. The owner told officers there was a deer rifle inside.
Sigman said Campbell, accused of murdering one man and critically injuring another on Oct. 25, could still be in the area. He asked deer hunters in the area to be watchful for the vehicle.
Dogs and a Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter were used to search the area Monday night. The chopper – stationed at the Houston Memorial Airport – is set to be back in service today.
