JAMES SIGMAN

Texas County Sheriff James Sigman praised law enforcement and other personnel working the case involving murder suspect Daniel Campbell. He also thanked citizens who live in the area near Success where the killing took place last week.

Assisting with the investigation were officers with the Texas County and Wright County sheriff’s departments, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Cabool Police Department as well as U.S. Forest Service staff members.

“Everybody did a fantastic job,” Sigman said. “I couldn’t ask for a better group than the one that’s around here. It’s good to know you have a group that’s going to be there from start to finish.

“Everyone worked really well together. It’s good to have a united front.”

Throughout the four-day effort, Pittman’s Store at highways 17 and 32 was used as a base for search party personnel.

“They’re to be thanked for letting us clog up their lot all that time,” Sigman said.

Sigman said Campbell’s apprehension was due in large part to communication with local residents.

“The community up there was fantastic,” Sigman said. “People were really willing to talk. We got tips and information the whole way through.”
