Houston’s annual Taste of Christmas event — which features cooks entering their favorite dishes — will take place Saturday.

Tasting at several area businesses starts at 10 a.m. Entries will be accepted beginning at 9 a.m. Winners will be selected at 2 p.m., except where businesses close earlier.

Participating businesses and categories:

• Candy, Houston Herald.

• Pies, Romines Motor Co.

• Soups, D&L Florist.

• Dips, Little House Gifts.

• Cinnamon rolls, Orscheln Farm and Home.

• Cookies, Houston Do-it Center.

• Brownies, Aaron’s Sales and Lease.

• Cheeseballs, Security Bank of the Ozarks.

• Muffins, Houston Visitors Center.

• No bake cookies, Community Betterment and Arts Council of Houston (at Houston Visitors Center).

• Fudge, Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

• Bar cookies, Forbes Pharmacy.

• Cupcakes, St. Mark’s Catholic Church.

• Salads. Demi Grace.

• Banana/spice breads, New Concepts Hair Salon.

• Chili, Texas County Food Pantry.

• Appetizers, LuLaRoe.

• Cakes/cheesecakes, The Animal Shelter of Texas County and Diane’s Pet Styles.

Winners are determined by the highest number of votes at each business.
