Texas County third in deer hunt harvest

As of Monday morning, Texas County ranked third in Missouri for the fall firearms deer season.

The Missouri Department of Conservation indicated the total was 3,352 killed at about 7:15 a.m. Monday. The breakdown: 1,723 bucks, 305 button bucks and 1,324 does.

Other top counties included Howell (3,587) and Franklin (3,487).

The fall firearms season ended Tuesday. Last year’s kill in Texas County was 4,544, which was first in the state.
