Lucas Kelley scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Houston Tigers to a season-opening 33-31 victory Tuesday against Cuba

HHS (1-0) was victorious with strong defense and a deliberate pace – the style first-year coach Rod Gorman said the Tigers needed to win with.

Kelley hit three 3-pointers as the lone HHS player in double figures. Ty McCloud scored five points – all in the fourth quarter – and freshman Isaiah Buse had four.

Houston led 8-5 after the opening quarter and by five at the half. The Tigers’ lead was three entering the fourth quarter.
