Graveside services: Wednesday, Dec. 14, in Vollmar Cemetery in Raymondville

Bernice Vollmar, 93, of Collinsville, Ill., passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, at Edwardsville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Edwardsville, Ill.

She was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Tyrone, daughter of Dillard and Dana Quillen Lay. She and Wayne Vollmar were married Aug. 5, 1946, in Waynesboro, Miss. He passed away April 25, 2006.

She served with the Coast Guard and was of the Baptist faith.

She was a homemaker and cherished her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; a daughter, Pam Scott; a grandson; and a sister, Bernadine Evans.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Vollmar of Granite City, Ill., and Dennis Vollmar of Collinsville, Ill.; a daughter, Judy Holicka of Troy; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margie Stubbs of St. Louis, Joann Widmer of Maryland Heights, and Betty Schmidt of Peoria, Ill; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

A celebration of life is Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Irwin Chapel in Granite City, Ill. Graveside services are Wednesday, Dec. 14, in Vollmar Cemetery in Raymondville.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Heartland Hospice and may be given to the funeral home.
