With the dreary days of winter, things have slowed down quiet a bit, so not a lot of news this month. President Donald Trump has tapped a new director for the Veterans Administration, but it will take a bit of time to see if there will be any noticeable improvements.

Locally, American Legion Post 41 had its nominations and elections last week, so we have all new officers that will be taking office next month. This has the promise of being very interesting! New programs and directions are being discussed that will possibly be beneficial to the community. I’ll share more as they occur.

The Legion Coffee Bar has gotten of to slow start. For the time being, it is Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to lunchtime. A few people have wandered in to see what the activity is about. As time goes on, we hope to expand to five days a week. I think the cold weather is the main obstacle. 

If you’re in the area, stop by on a Wednesday morning and meet the officers and have some coffee. We’ll be happy to visit.

The Legion’s meeting is at 5:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month, and is open to everyone with pizza and soft drinks available.
