A line on the Intercounty Electric cooperative system.

Ice Storm Jupiter created 163 separate power outages affecting 10,662 members, Intercounty Electric Cooperative reported Monday afternoon.

Intercounty said just a few hundred members were without power when the initial storm passed through the region Friday. But as icy limbs fell and additional waves of ice storms appeared, several main feeder lines went out. Roughly half of the outages were in Dent County.

CEO Aaron Bradshaw said his employees worked around-the-clock throughout the weekend to restore power.

“It has certainly been an all-hands-on-deck effort as employees have come together as a team to make sure everyone’s power comes back on,” he said.

Widespread damage was located mostly throughout the central area of Intercounty’s service territory — ranging from as far west as Plato to Licking and Edgar Springs and to Salem and as far east as the Boss area. Scattered outages also occurred in the Rolla, St. James and Belle areas.

“As crews work to finish bringing power back to the final few Intercounty’s members, we would like to thank the many organizations and individuals that were available in our co-op’s time of need,” Bradshaw said. “First and foremost, our statewide organization AMEC and the many co-op’s who offered assistance, as well as the National Weather Service and MoDOT. Additional thanks go out to those who brought food, shared encouraging words with the co-op, and kept the crews in their prayers. We knew we had the best co-op members around, but in times like these, we’re reminded of how fortunate we are to serve such an amazing group of people.”

Any power outages should be reported to 866-621-3679. The public is reminded to stay clear from all downed and low hanging lines –– assuming all are energized.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this storm may have had on your family,” Bradshaw said. “We appreciate your patience while the necessary repairs were made in order to once again power your home.”
