Texas County’s unemployment increased for the second month in a row in February, reports the Missouri Department of Economic Development. The figure was 6.5 percent, up four-tenths of a percentage point over January.
The rate was 5.8 percent beginning the year.
In south-central Missouri region, the average was 6.3 percent in February.
Texas County’s civilian work force was 9,265 with 605 unemployed.
Area counties and their unemployment rates were: Douglas, 5.8; Howell, 6.2; Shannon, 8.1; and Wright, 5.6.
