Texas County deputies recently handled several investigations.

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•At about 12:05 a.m. March 18, a Cabool woman reported that someone was on the roof of her residence at a County Aire Lane trailer park. An investigating officer walked on the roof of the trailer home and observed that the only footprints visible were his own and some made by a cat.

The woman said she guessed that was possible.

•A deputy responded at about 2:45 a.m. March 18 to a request by the Cabool Police Department to check on a car reported stolen that reportedly crashed on Highway AM. Upon arrival, the officer observed the vehicle upside down at the end of Highway AM. Missouri State Highway Patrol personnel arrived and worked the scene,

•A 46-year-old Eureka man reported on March 18 that a shop on his Highway U property at Cabool had been broken into and several tools with a total value of $4,800 had been stolen (including an HTP welder valued at $2,500). There are no suspects.

•A deputy responded to a report of theft on March 19 at a Highway M residence at Summersville. A man who lives there told the officer a 1968 Harley Davidson motorcycle and two welders (of unreported value) had been swiped. There are no suspects.

•A deputy was dispatched March 20 regarding a report of unlawful animal dumping at a Highway M residence at Cabool. A 74-year-old man who lives there told the officer a 37-year-old neighbor man often dumps dead cattle in a location that causes contamination of local spring water.

The officer made contact with the cattle owner and advised him to bury dead cattle in an appropriate spot or possibly receive a citation.

•A deputy responded on March 20 to a report of a possible suicide at a Highway MM residence at Mountain Grove.

The officer made contact with a 49-year-old man there who said a woman had asked him to try to locate her estranged husband, and that he had found him hanging by the neck from a tree on the property. The officer found a suicide note at the scene. The county coroner was contacted.
