Studentsl plant seeds last year in a specially-designed raised bed at the Community Garden in Houston.

The Texas County Master Gardeners will once again manage the Houston Community Garden for the 2017 growing season, and sign-ups for plots begin April 1.

Master Gardener Doris Altom said plots can be reserved by individuals in one half of the garden (located on U.S. 63 behind Mercy Clinic), while the other half will be available to area churches to provide fresh produce for people in their respective congregations.

Altom said volunteers to help with the garden are being sought. Anyone interested can email valtom@centurytel.net, or call 417-967-5809.

The Texas County Master Gardeners can also be found on Facebook.

Altom said gardening would begin early in April, as weather permits.
