U.S. Rep. Jason Smith, R-Salem, issued this statement upon the collapse of his party’s bill to replace the Affordable Care Act.
The bill was pulled in the House on Friday afternoon before a vote occurred.
Smith’s statement: “It is unacceptable that the 115th Congress has failed to take action to repeal a law that would free Missourians from a government run healthcare takeover that is failing them and driving up the cost of care. I am disappointed. Repealing Obamacare is the only acceptable outcome. The law has placed unfair tax mandates on families, resulted in sky rocketing premiums and failed to provide meaningful healthcare coverage for millions of Americans. I will continue to fight for repeal. The law is a disaster and hurting Americans. I side with those who want to rip this law out by the roots and provide real solutions for families. The fight is not over.”
