Texas County deputies recently handled several investigations.

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A deputy was dispatched April 1 regarding a report of a burglary at a Highway EE residence at Cabool. A 60-year-old man who owns the property told the officer someone had broken in and swiped a Honda generator. There are no suspects.

•A deputy on March 19 investigated a reported burglary at a Highway AW residence at Plato. The daughter-in-law of a 65-year-old woman who lives there told the officer that numerous items with a total value of $6,595 had been stolen (including three saddles worth $1,800, $1,400 and $800, respectively).

The house had been ransacked, and photos were taken as evidence. Investigation of the case continues.

•A deputy on March 28 responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a Kimble Road residence at Licking.

The officer made contact with a 54-year-old woman there who stated a 16-year-old girl had assaulted her, a man and a 26-year-old woman who is eight months pregnant. The woman stated the teen had used a closed fist and had kicked during the assault. She was reportedly angry because her phone and wallet had been taken away as a punishment.

County juvenile authorities were contacted regarding the teen, and a medical crew arrived and checked on the pregnant woman.

•A 46-year-old man reported on March 30 that a 36-year-old man had set up a tent on his Boone Creek Road property at Licking and was living there without permission. Upon arrival, an investigating officer observed that the tent was gone and determined that another officer had spoken to the man earlier and the man had said his tent had been flooded out the previous night and had been moved to a drier location.

•A 67-year-old Raymondville woman reported hearing gunfire near her Orchard Road residence on March 29. An investigating officer determined the sound was the woman’s grandchildren setting off fireworks.

•A deputy responded at about 7:20 p.m. March 28 to a report of a deer in the roadway at Highways 17 and Z. The officer was unable to locate the animal.

•A deputy was dispatched March 10 regarding a report of a burglary at a storage unit facility on U.S. 60 at Cabool. The 51-year-old man who owns the facility showed the officer damage to several units and locks, and said that renters were in the process of taking inventory of their stored belongings. Seven units were reportedly burglarized. Photographs were taken of damage, footprints and tire tracks in mud and dirt.

There are no suspects, and investigation of the case continues.

•A deputy responded at about 6:45 p.m. March 26 to a woman’s request to check the well-being of a man at his Sunshine Drive residence at Mountain Grove.

The woman stated she was at the man’s home when he pulled into the yard in a vehicle in a careless manner, and that she believed he was on drugs. Nobody was home when the officer arrived.

•An officer on March 13 investigated a reported theft at a Brushy Creek Road residence at Houston. A 35-year-old man who lives there stated a dune buggy valued at $4,000 had been swiped. Investigation of the case continues.
