Houston Education Foundation recently provided three iPad mini 2’s requested through a teacher’s grant, at a cost of $879 ($293 per unit).
Omanez and Rodney Fockler donated the funds to purchase one of the three in memory of their son, Mark, an artist and graduate of Houston Schools.
The Houston Education Foundation is a group that raises funds for the betterment of the school district and has made multiple purchases for items that would be out of the normal reach of the school’s budget.
“The iPad minis have been a fantastic addition to the elementary art room,” said Julie Allen, elementary art teacher. “Students can use the iPads to take photos to use in their artwork, do photo editing, pottery apps, sketch and draw apps, stop motion animation. They have enjoyed being able to add artwork and see all of their previous artwork in their gallery. The possibilities for the students are endless.”
