Several examples of seeds of native Missouri trees sit on display during an open house event April 1 at the Missouri Department of Conservation's George O. White State Forest Nursery.

The Missouri Deparment of Conservation showed off its George O. White State Forest Nursery on Saturday, April 1, with hundreds of people attending an annual open house event.

Located northwest of Licking on Shafer Road, the unique farm grows and ships out more than three million tree seedlings per year, mostly of native Missouri species.

Visitors had the chance to view the facility’s hundreds of acres of seedling growing blocks, tour its warehouse and cooler and see some of its shipping operation in action.

Seedlings from the MDC’s George O. White State Forest Nursery can be ordered online at mdc.mo.gov/trees-plants/tree-seedlings/order-seedlings.
