Graveside services were Monday, April 3, in Oak Hill Cemetery

Phyllis Hurt, 92, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 7, 1924, in Houston, daughter of George and Stella Watson Moody.

She graduated from Houston High School. She was crowned homecoming queen during her high school years. She worked as Houston city clerk for many years before retirement.

She was a member of Houston First Baptist Church for many years.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, embroidery and visiting with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walt and Harry Moody; and a sister, Avis Bodenhamer.

Survivors include a son, Steve Hurt of Linden, Texas; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other family members.

Graveside services were Monday, April 3, in Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor David Barbee officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
