The Texas County Emergency Services Board will name a member to fill a board vacancy following the sudden death of its president.
Services for Carol Ann Freeman, who resided in western Texas County, were Friday.
Under state statute, the board, which oversees the 911 system in the county, will fill the vacancy until the next election and name a new chairperson among its membership. The group’s current vice chairman is Bill Bridges, a Texas County Memorial Hospital employee.
The system, which operates from Main Street in Houston, is supported by a three-eighths cent sales tax.
