Military veteran

Donald “Don” H. Young, 85, of Nixa, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017.

He was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Flint, Mich., son of Milo and Jesse Arnold Young. He and Annabelle Bulter were married Aug. 7, 1955, in Pekin, Ill.

He was raised on a farm in Dexter with his three brothers and two sisters. 

As a 20-year veteran, he served in the Navy aboard the USS St. Paul during the Korean War. He served an additional 16 years in the Air Force.

He pastored in several Baptist churches, from Alaska to Africa. He was the pastor of Ozark Baptist Church in Houston.

He loved to fish, especially with his eldest son. He enjoyed making oil paintings and woodcarvings.

Survivors include his wife, Ann; four children; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two siblings; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services are Tuesday, May 30, at North Nixa Baptist Church. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
