Sales tax revenue decreased during the latest monthly distribution in Houston, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Revenue from Houston’s sales taxes plunged in the latest monthly report, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total from a one-cent sales tax dropped about 22 percent in May. The agency said the total was $60,717, a drop of about $17,495 from the same period a year ago. For the year, the total is $293,032, which is down $12,359 from 2016.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes earmarked for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each totaled about $14,936, which was down about $3,953 each.
