THELMA WALLACE

Thelma Jean Buckner Wallace, 87, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at her home in Licking.

She was born Dec. 22, 1929, in St. Louis, daughter of Hugh Lewis and Mattie Francis Bray Buckner. She and Charles Lawson were married May 1, 1947, in Salem, Ark.

She grew up in the Licking area and attended Licking High School.

She loved to cook and bake. She was a cook on towboats until she was 70.

She was a lifelong member of the VFW.

Survivors include seven children, Terry, Bill, Charles, Robert, Timothy, Hugh and Carolyn Wallace; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Hamby; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
