The Houston Senior Center has been recognized with the “Jim Applequist Award of Excellence” by SeniorAge.
To celebrate the honor, the Grand Avenue center will host a party on Friday, Aug. 11.
Elvis is slated to perform from 10 to 11 a.m. A $5 donation nets an Elvis CD.
A menu of pulled pork, hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, ice cream, watermelon and salad bar is planned.
The award presentation is at noon. Door prizes will be given away from 10 a.m. until noon.
