An architect's rendering of new hangars for the Houston Memorial Airport. It will have three rental units and not four, as shown.

Bids will be opened July 20 for improvements at the Houston Memorial Airport, including new hangars.

Through a MoDOT program, the work is paid primarily through federal funds administered by the state.

Among the specifications for the project:

•The existing hangar taxi lane pavement will be widened to allow for construction of additional airport-owned hangars to the east of those most recently constructed.

•Site grading, drainage and pavement construction associated with the new taxi lane.

New hangars at the Houston Memorial Airport will be situated east of those recently constructed.

•A three-unit box hangar with two alternates to construct one additional hangar.

Elaine Campbell, city development director, said the project schedule calls for work to be completed within a 120 calendar days.

A pre-bid conference with contractors was held last Thursday.
