Houston’s sales tax revenue during the latest monthly report jumped about 15 percent from 2016, the Missouri Department of Revenue reported.
The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $71,561, which was up $9,437 from the same period a year ago. In the first half of the year, $364,592 has been collected. That’s down just slightly from the first six months of 2016.
Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each contributed about $88,485 for the first half of 2017, which is nearly unchanged from 2016.Â
