Sales tax revenue in Houston was up during the latest distribution.

Houston’s sales tax revenue during the latest monthly report jumped about 15 percent from 2016, the Missouri Department of Revenue reported.

The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $71,561, which was up $9,437 from the same period a year ago. In the first half of the year, $364,592 has been collected. That’s down just slightly from the first six months of 2016.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each contributed about $88,485 for the first half of 2017, which is nearly unchanged from 2016.
