Rose Viola Dewitt, 92, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield.

She was born June 22, 1925, in Raymondville, daughter of Fred E. and Dovie Emma Gordineer Lee.

She attended school in Deer Creek, Ill., and Houston.

She worked at Fort Leonard Wood doing shoe repairs for soldiers. She also worked at Ramco in Manchester making piston rings.

Her hobbies were making quilts, gardening, yard sales and fixing cuckoo clocks and watches.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leon; an infant sister, Anna Belle; and two sons, Roland and Billy.

Survivors include six children, Sharon Lee of Roseburg, Ore., Tommy DeWitt of Hillsboro, Emma Sue DeWitt of Mountain View, Paul DeWitt and Alice Rose DeWitt of Houston and Kenny DeWitt of Farmington; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Lee and Roy Lee; and a sister, Eunice of Oklahoma.

Services were Thursday, July 13, Evans Funeral Home with Dr. Terry Snelling officiating. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery.
