INVESTIGATIONS

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Houston Police Department:

•Kody D. Carter, 22, of 1026 W. Highway 17, Apt. B, in Houston, was issued a citation for driving while revoked after a traffic stop Aug. 26 on U.S. 63.

An officer made the stop after observing Carter driving a blue Chevrolet Cavalier, and being aware he had an active Houston municipal warrant for failure to appear on a driving while suspended charge. A routine computer check revealed that Carter’s license was revoked. He was taken to jail.

•Cody L. Winfrey, 30, of 1435 Thomasville Road in Houston, was issued citations for driving while intoxicated (drugs), failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after a traffic stop on U.S. 63 at about 6:55 p.m. July 31.

An officer made the stop after observing a blue Chevrolet Cavalier swerve onto the shoulder of the road for an extended period. After making contact with the driver, the officer observed that her speech was slurred and her eyes were glassy and that she swayed from side to side while standing outside the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were conducted and investigation revealed that Winfrey had taken Xanax about an hour earlier.

She was taken to the Texas County Jail. A 12-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy who were in the car were taken from the scene by a family member. The incident was reported to the child abuse and neglect hotline.

•James E. Burris III, 23, of 16375 Forrest Drive in Houston, was arrested Aug. 23 for having an active Texas County warrant for resisting/interfering with arrest.

An officer who was aware of the warrant made the arrest after observing Burris at about 9:15 a.m. standing in the driveway of a Highway 17 residence. He was taken to the Texas County Jail where he was unable to post $50,000 bond.

•Candice N. Walser, 25, of 108 Acorn St. in Houston, was arrested Aug. 18 for having an active Greene County warrant for failure to appear on a driving while intoxicated charge.

An officer made the arrest after arriving at Walser’s residence to investigate a reported domestic disturbance. A computer identification check revealed the warrant.

Walser was taken to the Texas County Jail and held without bond for extradition to Greene County.

•Andrew L. O’Daniel, 27, of 3691 Morgan Road at Elk Creek, was arrested Aug. 18 for having an active Texas County warrant for damaging jail property.

An officer made the arrest after making contact with O’Daniel at Miller’s Grill while investigating a separate incident, and being aware he had the warrant. O’Daniel was taken to jail where he was unable to post $50,000 bond.

•Jennifer M. Moebius, 35, of 112 W. Spruce St., No. 2, in Houston, was issued a citation for driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop at about 10:15 p.m. on Grand Avenue.

An officer made the stop after observing a vehicle fail to yield right-of-way to his patrol car at Grand Avenue and Walnut Street. After Moebius was taken to jail, a computer check revealed she had an active Texas County warrant for a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. She was unable to post $75,000 bond.

•Stanley Cornman, 40, of 822 Bryan Street in Houston, was arrested Aug. 16 for having an active Texas County warrant for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

An officer who was aware of the warrant made the arrest at about 9:30 p.m. after observing Cornman walking south on Hawthorne Street. He was taken to the Texas County Jail where he was unable to post $75,000 bond.

•Jordan S. Clinton, 27, of 8931 Hayes Drive in Houston, was arrested Aug. 24 for having an active Texas County warrant for stealing.

An officer made the arrest at the probation and parole office in Houston after being advised Clinton was there. He was taken to jail and was unable to post $5,000 bond.

•Carolyn J. Cross, 59, of 713 W. Chestnut St. in Houston, was issued citations for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and no insurance on Aug. 11.

An officer responded to O’Reilly Auto Parts at about 2 p.m. and made contact with an employee of Dollar Tree who reported someone had struck the rear of his 2004 Ford F-250 and left the scene. The man said a fellow employee had witnessed the incident and given him the name of a woman who was allegedly driving.

The officer went to Cross’ home and during questioning she admitted being the driver. She was taken to jail, fingerprinted and released.

•Kolton C. Morgan, 21, of 14898 Sand Hollow Road in Bucyrus, was issued citations for driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked and speeding after a traffic stop at Lilly Avenue and Highway 17 at about 8 p.m. Aug. 17.

An officer made the stop after observing a black SUV traveling at a high rate of speed on Lilly Avenue. After making contact with the driver, the officer smelled alcohol and field sobriety tests were conducted.

Morgan was taken to the Texas County Jail for a 6-hour hold period.

A passenger in the vehicle was arrested for having an active Phelps County warrant for driving while suspended: Jasper D. Robbins, 28, of 18712 Robertson Drive in Licking. He was taken to jail where he posted $2,500 bond and was released.

•Bonnie Barton, 30, of 17753 Sleepy Hollow in Houston, was cited for stealing under $750 after allegedly shoplifting at Walmart on Aug. 17.
