A Licking man is charged with second-degree assault after allegedly attacking a woman during an early morning incident Aug. 20 at her residence.
According to a probable cause statement submitted to the county prosecutor by a Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy, a woman contacted county law enforcement authorities at about 1:23 a.m. and said her boyfriend had grabbed her by the throat at her Van Cleve Drive home.
The woman told an investigating officer she had been in the shower and her boyfriend came into the bathroom and began yelling at her. She said she told him to get out, but he wouldn’t.
The woman stated she got out of the shower and again asked the man to leave, but he instead shoved her back into the shower and she hit her armpit on a faucet. She told the officer she got up and pushed the man back.
The woman told the officer that as the dispute continued, the man grabbed her by the throat, and wielded an ax threatening to smash her vehicle with it. She also said the man took his two children to a neighbor’s adjacent house.
Deputies searched the area for the man and found him hiding under a vehicle next door. He reportedly said the woman was crazy and attacked him.
As a result of the investigation, Ryan E. Reddy, 34, of 12665 Van Cleve Drive in Licking, was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail. He is held on $200,000 bond.
