Sales tax revenue in Houston was down in July. Collections are down about 1 percent for the year 

Revenue from a one-cent sales tax collected in the City of Houston was down about 3.2 percent from the same monthly period a year ago, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue. 

The total was $49,622, which was down $1,653 from the same monthly period in 2016. 

For the first seven months of the year, $414,413 was collected. That’s down $4,376 for the year.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Both collected about $12,027 for the month.
