The Houston Rural Fire Department’s annual motorcycle Poker Run fundraiser took place last Saturday, with dozens of riders participating.
Houston Rural Fire Chief Don Gaston said that the event raised close to $5,000 for the department.
Plato resident Tonia Fiegenbaum won the $300 prize for best hand in the ride.
Local auctioneer Darren Scheets volunteered his services to help sell numerous items donated to the cause in an auction following the ride.
Two guns were raffled off and were won by Jody Jones of Raymondville and David Branson of Yukon.
Activities also included food prepared by the Texas County Dutch Oven Cookers and an Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter landing on Walnut Street in front of the fire station.

Riders arrive last Saturday afternoon at the Houston Rural Fire Department station in downtown Houston after completing this year’s Poker Run.
