Neilson Neal

A Licking man is held on $500,000 bond in the Texas County Jail following a Licking Police Department investigation last Saturday (Sept. 16).

LPD Chief Scott Lindsey said that at about 11:45 p.m. Sept. 16, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a Jeep Liberty traveling east on Highway 32 for an equipment violation.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Neilson N. Neal, 41, of Licking.

A records check on Neal revealed he had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest from Dent County. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of substances believed to be hydrocodone and heroin.

Neal was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail. During the process of being booked into the jail, staff members located a substance believed to be methamphetamine concealed on his person.

Neal was subsequently charged by Texas County prosecuting attorney Parke Stevens with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and delivery/possession of a controlled substance at a county jail – all felonies.
