One person was injured in a crash Friday, Oct. 12, about five miles south of Cabool.

One person was killed Saturday afternoon in a construction zone accident north of Edgar Springs on U.S. 63. A Cabool resident was involved in the three-vehicle crash.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said northbound vehicles driven by Nicholas Myslinski, 32, of Plainfield, Ill., and Ricky L. Ramos, 62, of Cabool, were stopped in construction when a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Kristopher A. Kerwin, 18, of Thayer, failed to stop, traveled into the rear of the Myslinski Ford F-250, causing it to strike Ramos’ SUV.

The Malibu travelled off the right side of the roadway, and the Myslinski vehicle went off the left side of the roadway.

Sgt. S.D. Altermatt said Kerwin was pronounced dead at the scene by the Phelps County coroner. Myslinski had moderate injuries and was transported to Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. Ramos’ injuries were not known.

The patrol said all were wearing seat belts except for Kerwin.
