More than 20 quilting enthusiasts spent the better part of Nov. 10-12 doing what they love at Golden Hills Trail Rides and Resort near Raymondville.

Members of the Rolla-based Piece & Plenty Quilt Guild gathered for the event, and basically turned Golden Hills dining hall into a quilting hall.

Piece & Plenty Quilt Guild member Loretta Phelps, of Rolla, holds up a quilt segment during a gathering Nov. 10 in the dining hall at Golden Hills Trail Rides and Resort near Raymondville. Her “Americana” quilt was to be king-size, with segments representing each branch of the U.S. military and depicting many famous quotes.

Piece & Plenty Quilt Guild president Kathy Stack said the club was formed in 1986 and includes 106 members hailing from several counties and communities, including Texas County. She said new members and guests are always welcome at club gatherings.

The group meets on the first Thursday of each month at the First Presbyterian Church in Rolla, and puts on a large quilt show every other year in October (the next is set for 2019).
