Sales tax revenue decreased during the latest monthly distribution in Houston, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Revenue from Houston’s sales taxes was down during the latest monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally from a one-cent sales tax totaled $38,681, which is down $6,057 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $574,234 has been collected by merchants. That’s down about 3.2 percent this year compared to the same 10 months in 2016.

Retailers also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for roads, sidewalks and utility work. Each totaled $8,745, which was down about $1,122 from the same month in 2016. For the year, $139,262 has been collected on each. That’s down about $5,100 for the year.
