Revenue from Houston’s sales taxes was down during the latest monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The tally from a one-cent sales tax totaled $38,681, which is down $6,057 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $574,234 has been collected by merchants. That’s down about 3.2 percent this year compared to the same 10 months in 2016.
Retailers also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for roads, sidewalks and utility work. Each totaled $8,745, which was down about $1,122 from the same month in 2016. For the year, $139,262 has been collected on each. That’s down about $5,100 for the year.Â
