Houston Police Chief Tim Ceplina examines a van involved in a crash Thursday morning at South Sam Houston Blvd. and Oak Crest Drive.

Two persons were injured Thursday morning in a collision at a busy South Sam Houston Blvd. intersection, Houston police said.

Two vehicles were traveling northbound when the first one stopped suddenly as the light turned. The other vehicle was unable to halt and struck it in the rear.

One motorist was complaining of whiplash and was taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital. A second person had a cut to the arm, but refused treatment at the scene.

One lane was closed as emergency personnel worked the scene. In addition to Houston police, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Texas County Sheriff’s Department assisted.
