The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A deputy responded Dec. 9 to a report of a dead cow in a ditch on Emery Road at Bucyrus.
The officer observed a dead cow (about 600 pounds) that had been partially butchered, with its loins and hind quarters gone.
Photos were taken of the animal, but where it had been butchered was undetermined. The officer saw many dairy cattle in an adjacent field, but none were the same breed as the dead cow. Investigation continues.
•A man reported on Dec. 12 that a 1998 Land Rover he owns had been parked at his mother-in-law’s U.S. 63 residence and was missing.
The man told an officer he had been away for a week and the vehicle was gone when he returned. He gave the name of a man who the residence is rented from and the officer contacted him.
The landlord said the vehicle’s owner’s name was not on the lease, and he had told him three times to move the vehicle because the lease stated no derelict vehicles were allowed. The landlord said he had the Land Rover towed.

A report was sent to the county prosecutor.
•A deputy on Dec. 15 investigated a report of a dead cow at a Burton Branch road property at Bucyrus.
