The primary is Tuesday, Aug. 7. 

Three persons have filed for seats on the Houston City Council. Charles “Chalky” Wells, who formerly served on the council, filed for the Ward II seat held by Sheila Walker. Ward III Alderman Viki Castleman Narancich is seeking re-election. Ward I Councilman Joe Honeycutt filed Tuesday.

Re-filing for Houston board of education are Leon Slape and Stacie Ely, as well as Tim Malam.  The terms are three years.

At Raymondville School, the terms of Allan Branstetter and Doug Swan expire. Branstetter refiled for a three-year term.

A five-year term on the Texas County Memorial Hospital board appears on the April ballot. The position is held by Jay Loveland. No one has filed.

Voters will decide three, four year positions on the Texas County Emergency Services Board. It oversees a three-eighths cent sales tax for 911 services in Texas County. The incumbents are Bill Bridges, Scott Lindsey and Brad Evans. No one has filed yet.

The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Jan. 16.
