CASA of South Central Missouri will welcome its Texas County volunteer coordinator during an open house Wednesday, Jan. 31, at the county justice center in Houston.

The event to meet Samantha Banks of Cabool runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

CASA will provide refreshments and a light lunch.

Officials said after a brief period of transition, CASA staff and volunteers are excited for the service that Banks will provide to its Texas County volunteers, and the strengths that she will bring to the South Central Missouri program as a whole.

“I am very passionate about making sure that children are safe and have a safe home,” Banks stated when asked why she is excited to be a member of the CASA team. “I am concerned about childrens’ well-being.”

Banks also expressed her excitement to meet members of the CASA team and the community. “This is an opportunity to learn more about the CASA program and interact with the CASA team.” Members of CASA staff, board of directors and volunteers will be present to discuss the CASA program and answer questions about what CASA does for children in the community.

“Please join us on Jan. 31 for our open house at the Texas County Justice Center, welcome Samantha, and see how you can get involved with the CASA program, and impact the life of just one child,” says Brock Whisler, recruitment and outreach coordinator for CASA. “Stay for five minutes or stay for lunch; it does not matter to us. We’re happy to share our mission with anyone who is interested.”

It said in the press release, there are children in Texas County who need a CASA volunteer. CASA is very close to serving every child in Texas County, but is still only serving about 75 percent of the children in care. Team up with CASA today, and be #onelight for a child in need.
