The Houston Area Chamber of Commerce’s busy 2018 schedule is continuing to take shape.

Chamber executive director Angie Quinlan has announced that Southern Fun Carnival (out of Anderson) has been secured for the Old Settlers Reunion in July. Quinlan said the carnival is expected to bring 15 to 20 rides and 10 to 15 games and concessions trailers to the event, which will run July 26-28 in conjunction with the Texas County Fair and its numerous activities geared toward livestock and agriculture.

The OSR will also feature lawnmower racing on Thursday night, a pony pull on Friday night and a big event Saturday night that can’t yet been rolled out, Quinlan said, because details are still being worked out.

Quinlan also announced that a Mid-Missouri Off-Roaders “mud run” competition is set for 5 p.m. Saturday, June 9 in the refurbished arena.

Also, a theme has been selected for the annual Christmas parade (set for Dec. 8): “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.”

The Southern Fun Carnival and Mid-Missouri Off-Roaders can both be found on Facebook.
