An earthquake was reported Tuesday in southeast Missouri.

A small earthquake rumbled Missouri’s Bootheel region, with people in four states reporting they felt the tremor.

The 3.6 magnitude quake at 10:57 a.m. was centered near Caruthersville, Mo. Residents of Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and as far north as Cape Girardeau in Missouri reported feeling the temblor.

The epicenter was about 20 miles from New Madrid, home of a massive quake in 1811 that rattled the 2,000 residents of St. Louis.
